The Law of Attraction simply is. It is not a belief system. It’s not a religion. It is a Universal Law. It’s real whether or not we believe in it. It’s just how the Universe works.
It’s like the law of gravity. Whether or not you’re aware of it or believe it’s real, it doesn’t matter. It still always works.
The problem is many people don’t know about it, so they don’t know how to use the Law of Attraction to their benefit. Or if they have heard of it, they either don’t believe in it or think it won’t work for them because they’ve tried things and didn’t get the results they wanted.
But the problem isn’t with the Law of Attraction. The Law of Attraction is neutral. It isn’t good or bad. It doesn’t judge. It is very much like gravity: it doesn’t work “better” for one person than another. It doesn’t take sides. It is reactive energy; it just reacts to our thoughts, feelings, beliefs and actions.
The reason why the Law of Attraction seems to work better for some people than others is because those people (either intentionally or unintentionally) are doing the things that attract positive experiences into their lives.
And the people who think the Law of Attraction doesn’t work for them aren’t doing those things — even though they may be trying their hardest and following advice they learned online or in a book.
The fact of the matter is that the Law of Attraction can’t help but work. There’s no way for to NOT work. It works 24/7 without fail — just like gravity.
So how do you flip the switch, and get the Law of Attraction to work for you instead of against you? (Because it’s always working. So if you’re not taking action for it to work for you, it will very likely be working against you.)
1. Be grateful in your current situation, regardless of your circumstances.
I know sometimes it isn’t easy. Life can throw us some major curveballs. But there is always something to be grateful for in any situation.
Just last week, I had an opportunity to practice this. My little furbaby, Henry, was sick. He wasn’t getting better despite the healing work I was doing with him. So, finally I decided to take him to the vet for acupuncture and whatever else he needed for his little body to heal.
I was really worried about him and could feel myself going into fear. So I started thinking about what I was grateful for. You might say, “Your dog is sick. What is there to be grateful for?” But I knew I had to shift my energy and get out of fear, so I thought about what I was grateful for, even in this situation.
I was grateful that…
- He’s young and generally healthy, so I told myself he’d be okay. (I’ve lost 4 dogs in the last 7 years, due to old age. So this was important for me to remember.)
- I was able to get a last-minute appointment with my Vet. She’s booked weeks in advance, and it’s not always possible to get in on the same day, even with an urgent situation. So I was very grateful that I was able to get in on the same day.
- I have a reliable car to drive to the vet’s office, which is nearly an hour away.
- My vet does a combination of conventional medicine, Chinese medicine and acupuncture. There aren’t a lot of vets who do acupuncture in my area, so I’m very grateful to have a vet who practices all 3 modalities. And in this case, she did use all 3 with him.
This gives you an idea of how to look for things to be grateful for, even in a situation you want to change. Think of 3 to 5 things you’re grateful for in the challenging situation. This will begin to shift your energy from fear to gratitude.
2. Come from a place of gratitude in your life.
Be grateful for all the things in your life: your home, your family, your work, the beauty all around you in nature. Look for things to be grateful for in your life.
This is different than the first step because this is about feeling grateful for your life and the things and people in your life. The first step is about feeling grateful in spite of a difficult situation, and looking for things in that situation to be grateful for.
Some things I’m grateful for are…
- Having a sweet and loving little furbaby.
- Living in a beautiful home.
- Having a caring family.
- The beautiful view I have from where I work at home.
- The beautiful rainbow I saw during the rain.
- Knowing how to do healing work with the Akashic Records.
- Working with wonderful clients, doing work I love.
- Learning about essential oils and using them daily.
Write 5 to 10 things you’re grateful for on a daily basis. This begins to train your subconscious mind to look for things in your life to be grateful for.
3. Focus on what you want in your life, instead of focusing on what you don’t want.
We seem to be really good at thinking about, and dwelling on, the things that are wrong in our lives. And that just attracts more of the same to us.
Instead, put your attention on what you DO want. Imagine how you’d like your life to be: where you live, your relationship, your body and health, your career, how you spend your free time, etc. Visualize it as if it were happening in your life right now. Put your time and attention on what you want to attract into your life, and be grateful for it coming into your life.
4. Take action.
As I heard Tony Robbins say several years ago, you can’t sit and meditate and think happy thoughts and say, “there’s no weeds, there’s no weeds, there’s no weeds,” and expect the weeds to disappear. At some point, you have to go out and pull the weeds.
Positive thinking and gratitude are invaluable (and necessary) tools in creating the life you desire. But you also need to take action towards your goals. These don’t need to be huge (and often overwhelming) actions. Taking small, incremental, consistent actions will move you closer and closer to the life you desire.
5. Know that once you take these steps, it’s inevitable that the Law of Attraction will work for you.
You will begin to attract people and situations that bring you closer to your goal. You will start to experience synchronicity as a regular occurrence instead of a rare event.
Unfortunately, this is where a lot of people undo all of the work they did in the first 4 steps. This is where people start to doubt. They start to wonder how they’re going to get what they want. They begin to question if the Law of Attraction will really work for them.
The energy of doubt cancels everything else. Think about when you go to a restaurant. You place your order and wait for it to arrive. While you’re waiting, you don’t begin to wonder, “Is it really coming?” You know it’s being prepared for you, and will be brought to your table.
Everything we desire already exists in Spirit; it just hasn’t manifested in our lives yet.
Our energy determines what we manifest. Focusing on the positive attracts positive experiences to us. Focusing (or worrying) about the negative, attracts negative experiences to us.
Our brains have something called the Reticular Activating System. Basically what it does is brings into our awareness what we’re focused on.
Let’s say, you’re thinking about getting a red sports car. All of the sudden, you begin to notice red sports cars everywhere you go.
Were they there all along, and your Reticular Activating System just brings them into your awareness? Or did you attract all of those red sports cars into your reality because you’re focused on getting one?
I believe it’s a combination of both. Our energy attracts people and experiences into our lives. And what you focus on, expands. And also, when there’s something positive right in front of you (like the red sports car), you won’t even notice it because you’re focused on the negative, and that’s what’s filtering through your Reticular Activating System.
So you’re attracting people and experiences that are aligned with your energy, your thoughts, feelings and beliefs. And at the same time, you notice those things that are aligned with your energy because that’s how the Reticular Activating System works.
If you’re focused on doubt, that is what you’re going to attract. Instead, focus on what you want to bring into your life. And know that the Law of Attraction can’t help but work. It’s always working. The only question is whether it’s working to bring you what you do want or what you don’t want.
I truly do believe in the law of attraction. It’s amazing how the energy, thoughts and emotions that we put out into the universe can affect what we receive in return. That’s why I always think about the future and image what I want to happen to me. I speak everything in the present tense that I already have what I’m asking for. So far I’ve had so much manifested for me. I am truly grateful for the universe and the law of attraction.
